2025: Arrest in St. Petersburg in a bribe case
On March 19, 2025, it became known about the arrest of the head of the radio engineering service General Staff of the Navy RUSSIAN FEDERATION , Captain 1st Rank Oleg Lopatiev. He is accused of taking a bribe on an especially large scale.
According to investigators, Lopatiev demanded 8 million rubles from the general director of JSC "Stanislav Emerald Medvedev for" general patronage and connivance "when the company implemented a contract concluded with the Navy as part of a defense order. Emerald is engaged in the development and production of complex technical devices for various fields. The company, in particular, supplies Briz compressors designed for disinfection systems for the contents of cesspools and septic tanks, charge-discharge boards to provide power to consumers from the ship's network, etc.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, Medvedev, under the control of operatives, handed over to Lopatiev part of the requested amount - 3 million rubles. After that, the naval officer was detained by employees of the military counterintelligence department of the FSB of Russia in the IL Patio restaurant on the territory of St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport.
Lopatiev was taken to the military investigation department of the TFR in the Leningrad Military District. After interrogation, he was charged with receiving a bribe by an official on an especially large scale, associated with extortion (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Such acts are punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years with a fine of up to 70 times the amount of the bribe.
The St. Petersburg Garrison Military Court sent Lopatiev to a pre-trial detention center. The investigation in the petition for the detention of the defendant indicated that he, remaining at large, by virtue of his position, could put pressure on witnesses or try to destroy evidence. Lopatiev categorically denies guilt in receiving a bribe.[1]
