Blocking assets in Ukraine and deprivation of state awards
In May 2025, Petro Poroshenko demands to declare illegal the decree on personal indefinite sanctions against him, signed in February by Ukrainian President Zelensky.
The restrictions were imposed amid allegations of treason and collusion with other major politicians and businessmen, as well as with the Russian authorities, which allegedly led to significant economic losses. All Poroshenko's assets were blocked, and he was also deprived of state awards.
At the same time, Zelensky allowed the accused to pay off and left a loophole to lift the sanctions - if Poroshenko and his comrades-in-arms cover the Ukrainian budget deficit of several billion hryvnias in the fund to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In response to restrictive measures in the European Solidarity party, the head of which is Poroshenko, announced attempts to clean up the country's political field on the eve of the presidential election. In addition, a petition was sent to the reception of the President's Office in defense of Poroshenko, signed by more than 100 thousand people.
Zelensky's powers as president of Ukraine expired back in 2024.
