2024: Manhunt

According to RIA Novosti, the case against Pyotr Vrublevsky was initiated for extortion as part of an organized group (paragraph "a" of part 3 of article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He could face a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. At the same time, the Izvestia newspaper reports that the young man was arrested in absentia on charges of deliberately destroying someone else's property (part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). His name also appears in criminal arson cases and a promotion for a major darknet drug marketplace.
In particular, as they say, law enforcement officers detained a previously convicted 20-year-old native of the Stavropol Territory. According to the case file, in January and October 2023, he set fire to Audi RS Q8 and Mersedes-Benz GLE cars belonging to a resident of the Potapovo village in New Moscow. According to the arsonist, he received an order for crimes from Pyotr Vrublevsky.
The Izvestia newspaper also reports that Vrublevsky Jr. gained fame among users of darknet resources as an alleged arms and power dealer. In addition, the 20-year-old owner of the sports BMW M4 accused Vrublevsky of setting fire to his car. The performer turned out to be a 16-year-old native of the Luhansk region, who was detained by the police. Later, the victim in the case also complained to the police about extortion, in which he also suspects Vrublevsky.[1]
2025: Judge Threats Case
The investigating authorities opened a new criminal case against Pyotr Vrublevsky, the son of the founder of the ChronoPay payment system Pavel Vrublevsky. This became known in mid-March 2025. The case involves threats against a judge and contempt of court.
According to RIA Novosti, the criminal case was initiated under three articles, including for contempt of court and threats to the judge. The details of the incident and the circumstances under which the threats were expressed were not disclosed.
This is not the first criminal case against Pyotr Vrublevsky. In July 2024, Moscow investigators opened an extortion case against him. Vrublevsky Jr. was put on the wanted list and arrested in absentia.
The defendant's father, Pavel Vrublevsky, founder of the ChronoPay payment system, also has problems with the law. In 2022, he was detained on charges of fraud. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vrublevsky and his acquaintances since 2019 posted false information on the Internet with offers of monetary remuneration for participating in polls, as well as for successfully predicting the exchange rate and shares. In addition, they invited people to participate in exchange trading and other financial transactions, promising substantial profits.
The damage from the actions of the group on four episodes of fraud amounted to ₽536 thousand, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Pavel Vrublevsky already had problems with the law earlier. In 2013, the Tushinsky court of Moscow sentenced him to 2.5 years in prison for organizing a DDoS attack on the competing payment system Assist, which signed a contract with Aeroflot. The hackers hired by the businessman in 2010 disabled the Assist website, as a result of which Aeroflot had difficulties selling air tickets via the Internet.
The organization of the DDoS attack cost Vrublevsky $20 thousand, and the damage to Assist amounted to about ₽15 million, for Aeroflot - ₽146 million. The IT entrepreneur was released on parole a year after his conviction, in 2014.[2]
