2021: VMware CEO Appointment
On May 12, 2021, VMware announced the appointment of Ragu Raghuram as the company's new CEO instead of Pat Gelsinger, who moved to Intel three months earlier.
Before heading VMware, he worked for the company as an operating director and was responsible for promoting products and cloud services. During his eight years at VMware, he changed several leadership positions. In particular, he led the divisions of software-defined data centers and cloud infrastructure.
In a conversation with Fortune, Ragu Raguram said that unlike Pat Gelsinger, he would be "a more technology-oriented leader." Although Gelsinger was a highly qualified technical specialist, in the style of managing the company, according to Raghuram, he resembled a "statesman," because he spoke about politics during interviews with journalists and conferences.
Raghuram said he did not intend to follow in Gelsinger's footsteps as a leader more like SalesforceMark Benioff, who regularly comments on politics and the situation in society.
I will spend most of my time on what is good for VMware, customers and company-related industry technologies, "Raghuram said. |
