2017: Appointment as CEO of Tata Consultancy Services
On January 12, 2017, it became known about the change of CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The largest Indian IT company and the largest software exporter in Asia was headed by Rajesh Gopinathan, Bloomberg news agency reports.
As head of TCS, Gopinathan replaced Natarayan Chandrasekaran, who was promoted to chairman of the board of directors of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group conglomerate, which includes TCS.
During Chandrasekaran's tenure at the helm of TCS since 2009, the company's profit has quadrupled, quotes have tripled and TCS has become the largest Indian company by market capitalization (amounting to $67 billion at the beginning of 2017).
Natarayan Chandrasekaran, who has been working in Tata structures for about 30 years, said he accepts the news of his appointment with "humility and pride." He also stressed that now he has a huge responsibility for the future of the company.
A Reuters source in the Tata Group close to Chandrasekaran says that the most important task of the holding company's new chairman will be to "restore order" in the group and complete all current court cases.
Rajesh Gopinathan will officially become CEO of TCS on February 21, 2017. On the same day, Ganapathy Subramaniam, President of TCS Financial Solutions, will become the President and COO of the company[1]
