2023: Sentence - 7 years in prison for embezzlement
On March 22, 2023, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow sentenced Valery Rukhledev, former president of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf (VOG), to seven years in a general regime colony. He was found guilty of embezzlement of the organization's funds. The court also decided to recover 106 million rubles from Rukhledev in favor of VOG.
The former head of the legal department of the VOG, Yevgeny Novoseltsev, received six and a half years in prison, and the ex-head of the VOG finance department, Natalya Zembatova, received four and a half years. It was decided to recover compensation in the amount of more than 569 million rubles from the defendants in the case, RIA Novosti reports.
The investigation estimated the total amount of damage at 320 million rubles, Kommersant said. Rukhledev was considered involved in the fraud in the sale of the VOG building in the center of Moscow and the signing of fictitious acts on allegedly completed work on the repair and reconstruction of the organization's premises.
The former head of the VOG is charged with four episodes of embezzlement or embezzlement of funds. According to the investigation, the thefts were carried out since January 2018. The investigation of embezzlement in VOG has been conducted since January 2018. For each of the crimes, representatives of the prosecutor's office asked for an elderly man with a disability of six years in a general regime colony with a fine of 800 thousand rubles. Before the court decision, he was given a ban on certain actions.
Rukhledev categorically denied his guilt, stating that he himself initiated an investigation into the embezzlement in VOG. In his opinion, detractors used a criminal case to remove him from office.
By March 22, 2023, Valery Rukhledev is 78 years old. He is a repeated champion and prize-winner of the championships of the USSR, Europe and the world in sambo and judo, as well as a six-time champion of the World Games of the Deaf (since 2001 - Deaflympics) in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.[1]
