2018: Arrest for the scheme of bribery of doctors
On October 11, 2018 it became known that the head of network of the South Californian MRT-centers was arrested for development of the complex circuit of bribery of doctors thanks to which specialists received payment for addresses of patients within the system of insurance of public employees.
Sam Sarkis Solakyan was arrested on September 27, 2018 after sight charges of fraud. The volume of bribes and Solakyan's rollbacks is estimated in more than $284 million. Prosecutors accuse that Solakyan organized the scheme of bribery of medical specialists at which doctors directed patients with false indications to MRT, and specialists of the MRT-centers in turn confirmed the false diagnosis or forced the patient to undergo additional inspection.
All doctors involved in the scheme gained an additional income or a permanent flow of new patients. At the same time the doctor had to deliver uninterruptedly some minimum number of patients to the MRT-center, and when falling flow rate was excluded from the scheme. Earlier for one MRT-research into the account of such specialist about $50 arrived, then these digits decreased to $30 and even $20. Dirty payments were registered under a payment type of marketing, administrative services and planning that allowed to hide them both from patients, and from insurance companies.
Dates and the amounts of several payments which were, allegedly, transferred into accounts of recruiters of Solakyana company are listed in the complaint which came to prosecutor's office of the State of California. Recruiters found the doctors ready to carry out similar frauds, and they since 2013 received over $8.8 million for the services.
Charge of large scale fraud on 12 points was brought to Solakyan.[1]
