2018: Appointment as one of two CEO of Asus
On December 13, 2018 the CEO of the Taiwan Asustek Computer manufacturing PC Jerry Shen announced the resignation. Instead of it since January 1, 2019 two persons will become new directors of the company: S.Yu. SY Hsu and Samson Hou. The first by the time of the statement headed computer business of Asustek, and the second directed technical support service of clients worldwide.
At the press conference which took place after the meeting of the Board of Directors at which the board of Asustek approved changes in the management Gerry Shen said that the post leaves to accelerate transformation of the company, transfers the Taiwan agency CNA.[1]
After resignation Shen intends to found the own company which he also will head. The new startup under the name iFast will concentrate attention on artificial intelligence technologies and Internet of Things. Asustek is going to invest in new firm of Gerry Shen up to 10 billion Taiwan dollars (about $324 million at the rate of for December 14, 2018) and will control 30% of its shares, Taipei Times reports.[2]
The chairman of the board of directors Jonney Shih who remains on a post, thanked Shen in 25 years of work in the company and expressed confidence in success of new business.
Also Asustek announced radical reorganization on the smartphone direction. The company intends to concentrate attention on fans of the computer games and users preferring high-performance devices.
At the same time, in connection with staff movements and reorganization of smartphone business of Asus expects a one-time loss in the amount of 6.2 billion Taiwan dollars (about $200 million). Because of it the profit of the company in the IV quarter will be negative, but according to the results of all 2018 Asustek expects to remain profitable and to pay the planned dividends, the chief financial officer of the company Nick Wu said at a press conference.
