Biography

1983-2003

He began his career in 1983 as a researcher at the NICEVT Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR.

Since 1986, he has been working at the A.K. Aylamazyan IPS of the Russian Academy of Sciences: researcher, head of the laboratory, director of the Research Center for Multiprocessor Systems, director of the institute.

Scientific and practical interests: computer telecommunications and sensor networks; supercomputer, grid and cloud technologies; theoretical foundations of computer science (meta-calculation).

As executive director from Russia and scientific adviser from Russia, he headed the SKIF and SKIF-GRID supercomputer programs of the Union State to create and develop a series of SKIF supercomputers, system and application software for them and grid systems based on them.

Laureate of the Russian Government Prize in the field of science and technology (2006, for the results of the SKIF program)

Since 1995 he has been teaching at the University of Pereslavl named after A.K. Aylamazyan, since 2003 - rector of this university.

2023: House arrest under the article "Financing extremist activities"

On May 12, 2023, it became known about the house arrest of the chief researcher of the Institute of Software Systems named after A.K. Aylamazyan of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Abramov, who is accused under the article "Financing extremist activities."

According to Kommersant, the scientist is accused of transferring money to the Anti-Corruption Fund (recognized as an extremist organization and banned, foreign agent, liquidated). The investigation of the criminal case is carried out by FSB officers. Under the article on financing extremism (part 1 of article 282.3 of the Criminal Code), Abramov may face a fine of 300 thousand to 700 thousand rubles, forced labor for a term of one to four years, or imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
