Matthew Szulik is the chairman of the board of Red Hat company since April, 2002, the former president and the chief executive officer of Red Hat (the last two positions – till January, 2008). Massachusetts, the USA was born in 1956 in Boston.

Mathew is keen on the idea of improvement of opportunities of education using open source software for students worldwide. He is one of "loud-hailers" of our time in industrial, state and educational spheres of the open source software along with other famous figures.

Biography

Mathew was born in 1956 in Boston, the State of Massachusetts, the USA.

Left private College of Saint Anselm in the State of New Hampshire, the USA.

Worked as the director in Sapiens International company.

From September, 1997 to October, 1998 – the president of Relativity Technologies, company on software development.

Since November, 1998 – the president of Red Hat.

Since November, 1999 – the president and the chief executive officer of Red Hat.

In 2002 Shulik held the third position in the company – the chairman of the board of directors, and approximately in six years resigned from the post of the president and the chief operating officer. Thus, behind him there were duties only of the chairman of the board.

Other activity

Shulik is the head of some other technology companies, such, for example, as Interleaf and MapInfo for more than 20 years. Is the chairman of scientific and technical section of the Ministry of Economic Development of the state of Northern Carolina. Also he was the chairman and the chief executive of technology association on electronics and information science of the state of Northern Carolina.
