2020: Death because of COVID-19

On May 22, 2020 it became known of death because of COVID-19 of the monk of the Sacred and Nikolaev Verkhoturye monastery in  Sverdlovsk region  of the monk Pimen. He was 58 years old, it hurt diabetes, TASS with reference to the press service of the Ekaterinburg diocese reports.

With a regret it is reported that the monk of the Sacred and Nikolaev Verkhoturye monastery monk Pimen (Shuvayev), says the Ekaterinburg diocese departed from the complications caused by a koronavirusny infection to the Lord.

The monk of the Verkhoturye monastery Pimen died of a coronavirus

Earlier it was reported that COVID-19 was revealed at the deputy of the Verkhoturye monastery Jerome and a part of his brotherhood. At the same time it was specified that all diseased has a disease benign. Monasteries and temples of the city of Verkhoturye are closed for parishioners and pilgrims in view of introduction of quarantine measures. Church services are made according to the normal schedule by forces of brotherhood of monastery.

All necessary anti-epidemic events in such cases were held: installation of contacts and their isolation, post-contact testing, disinfection.

Earlier the governor of the region Evgeny Kuyvashev reported that about 120 people got to a circle of contact persons first caught a coronavirus in the monastery, the test for a coronavirus was taken from them. It became known later that in the monastery 46 cases of infection with a coronavirus of new type are registered.

According to the deputy governor of Sverdlovsk region Pavel Krekov, the situation turned out to be consequence of the fact that "sanitary standards and precautionary measures were ignored".[1]

According to operational staff, by May 22, 2020 Sverdlovsk region takes the sixth place among Russian regions on number of infections of COVID-19. In the region recorded 3443 cases of infection, for the past day confirmed 135 new cases.
