Education
In 1994 he graduated from the Kazakhstan State National University named after al-Farabi with a degree in applied mathematics.
In 1996, he graduated from the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Forecasting under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, receiving a master's degree in public administration.

2022: Appointment of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan
On January 11, 2022, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev appointed Alikhan Smailov, who served as head of government since January 5, as the new prime minister of the country.
In early January 2022, Tokaev accepted the resignation of the Kazakh government on the third day of the protests that began in the country, which subsequently turned into riots.[1]
