Biography
Kaj-Göran Alexander Stubb was born on April 1, 1968 in Helsinki.
Got an education in the USA, France and Finland, studied political science, civilization history, the international European relations. Owns Finnish, Swedish, English, German and French languages.
Worked as the adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, in representation of Finland in the EU, the adviser to the president of European Commission Romano Prodi.
In 2004 it was elected the European Parliament deputy.
In 2008 it is appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland. Being the Foreign Minister, condemned recognition by Russia of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, but opposed imposition of sanctions concerning Russia. Considers that Finland had to enter NATO at the same time with the accession to the EU in 1995.
On June 22, 2011 Stubb was appointed the minister of affairs of the EU and foreign trade.
In April, 2014 expressed the intention to fight for a post of the chairman of the party and prime minister. Announced that in case of a victory it intends to speed up work on accession of Finland to NATO. In June, 2014 in Finland at the congress of Coalition party which is taking place in the city of Lahti Alexander Stubb is elected it the chairman. Considering that this batch possesses also the prime minister's post, the new leader of the party will hold this position. For Stubb votes of 500 delegates from 850 voted in the second round. Still the minister of social security and health care Paula Risikko and the Minister of Economic Development Jan Vapaavuori were applicants. The first received in the second round of vote of 349 voices, the second with 258 voices in the first round left further fight. Stubb replaces on a post of the head of a batch and the government of Jyrki Katainen who at opening of a congress expressed the intention to resign. As Katainen said earlier, he intends to become a representative in the new structure of the European Commission which will get to work on November 1[1].
