Biography
Alexander Tamas worked in Arma Partners investment bank which created with three partners in March, 2003.
Worked later as the chief executive of Goldman Sachs where supervised the IT companies.
In August, 2008 passed to work into the DST Advisors investment company managing Digital Sky Technologies fund. "I know that Alexander Tamas already signed the contract with DST Advisors. Its task will include creation of office DST in London" — said a source of Kommersant.
Later Tamas joined Mail.ru Group (the new name DST) the board and prepared the company for the IPO. In November, 2010 Mail.Ru Group successfully carried out the IPO, having received $912 million. After that the role of the managing director strongly decreased, but the importance of a gendiretor of Mail.ru Group increased, the analyst of the Russian investment bank said.
At the end of 2010 beginning of 2011 Alexander Tamas supervised minority foreign assets of Mail.ru Group - 2.38% of social service Facebook, 1.47% of the producer of games of Zynga, 5.13% of discount service Groupon.
On April 6, 2011 the managing director of Mail.ru Group Alexander Tamas left the post. The board member of Mail.Ru Group Mathew Hammond was appointed the new managing director. The representative of Mail.ru Group did not explain the reason of change of the managing director.
But Alexander Tamas remained the partner of DST Advisors managing Yury Milner and Alisher Usmanov's investment fund Digital Sky Technologies (DST), the representative of fund told. Mail.ru Group repeatedly declared perspective of sale of foreign assets in what Tamas's experience can be useful too, observers said.
