Biography

Ulyana Suprun was born in Detroit (USA), at the same time she has the Ukrainian origin. Parents of the activist left Ukraine after World War II. It is also known that the grandmother Suprun Maria Voloshchuk participated in the Ukrainian liberation movement of 1930-1940. At the same time relatives of the head are in Kiev and Lviv.

In America Suprun attended the Ukrainian school and church, consisted in the scout Layer organization.

Suprun for the first time visited Ukraine in 1974 at the age of 11 years.

In 1989 she graduated from the Michigan medical university majoring in the doctor-radiologist. Data on it contained on the Suprun page in Facebook and also in its profiles on the medical websites of the USA. There it was noted that the doctor in addition studied radiology in Henry Ford's hospital and hospital Sinai of Grace. After that Suprun worked as the radiologist in New York, and experience in this sphere – more than 27 years.

Since the beginning of the 1990th years Suprun with the husband came to Ukraine with different missions. In particular, in 1992 they celebrated the second anniversary of independence of the country.

From 1995 to 2013 the volunteer was included into the Union of the Ukrainian youth in New York. One more her position - the president of the Ukrainian-American association civil freedoms.

In 2004 during the Orange revolution of the spouse helped with the organization of meetings in Washington and New York. Thus they wanted to support Ukraine. At the same time Suprun with the husband explained events in the country to the American journalists, politicians and congressmen.

In the fall of 2013 Suprun with the husband moved to Ukraine. In 2014 during the revolution it worked in the Maidan health service.

"I saw that we, civil doctors, are not taught to help in case of fighting, - Suprun told media. – We had one wounded on the Maidan which we brought to hospital, but could not save".

After that it founded the Protection of Patriots organization for training in tactical medicine of all military formations. Also she was engaged in providing fighters with first-aid kits according to standards of NATO.

From same year Suprun headed humanitarian initiatives of the World Congress of Ukrainians.

In the same time she is the principal of rehabilitation medicine at the Ukrainian Catholic university, enters into the supervisory boards of the First voluntary hospital of Pirogov and Physicians of the Maidan.

In July, 2015 according to the solution of the president of Ukraine the couple Suprunov obtained citizenship of Ukraine, and in October Ulyana was appointed the non-staff consultant of committee of the Verkhovna Rada concerning health care.

In July, 2016 Suprun became the Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine.

On July 27, 2016 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Ulyana Suprun the acting as the Minister of Health. Before she held a position of the deputy minister which to it was offered by the president Petro Poroshenko.

"I think that I understand the mechanism of system operation and what changes need to be made to it. Those who work here cannot be beyond a system. I as the doctor from the USA, I can look at a situation more objectively", - – she told on air of the Gromadsky^[1].

Suprun entered a new position on August 1, 2016, having released Victor Shafransky from this duty.
