2023: Detention in the case of embezzlement of 26.5 million rubles

In the Kherson region, in the case of appropriation on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the former head of the regional ministry of health Vadim Ilmiev was detained. This was reported on June 6, 2023 in the local department of the Investigative Committee.

According to the investigation, from September 1, 2022 to April 14, 2023, Vadim Ilmiev, using his official position, stole funds belonging to the Ministry of Health of the Kherson Region in the amount of more than 26.5 million rubles, intended to pay salaries to employees of the Kherson City Clinical Hospital. He was chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention.

According to the Investigative Committee, searches were carried out at the accused's house. The agency notes that a large amount of money was seized from him.

According to Kommersant, Vadim Ilmiev was detained by officers of the FSB of the Kherson region, which provides operational support for the investigation, in Simferopol, where the defendant had a large new house. Conducting a search in it, investigators and security officers found tens of millions of rubles, including those stolen from the Ministry of Health, some of which, as expected, he managed to change to dollars. In addition, in addition to cash, investigators seized expensive watches, jewelry and works of art. It is assumed that all this will be used to pay off damage in a criminal case.

The publication notes that Vadim Ilmiev is accused of embezzlement of funds that were intended to pay salaries to employees of the State Budgetary Institution of the Kherson Region "Kherson City Clinical Hospital named after E. E. Karabelesh." The hospital itself is located in Kherson, which in the fall of 2022 was occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the end of March 2023, Ilmiev left the region, moving to the Crimea.[1]
