2023: Attempted rape by Yandex.Taxi driver

In Novosibirsk, a 24-year-old foreign citizen, a Yandex.Taxi driver was arrested for attempted rape. The regional Investigative Committee announced this on July 6, 2023.

A criminal case was initiated against the suspect under Part 3 of Art. 30 part 1 of Art. 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted rape). The man faces six years in prison. The driver in custody is a citizen of Kyrgyzstan.

As reported in the TFR in the Novosibirsk region, during the preliminary investigation it was established that in June 2023, the accused, being in the car with the victim, using violence, tried to rape her. The man failed to complete the plan, for reasons beyond his control, the girl managed to escape.

The victim was a mother of many children, designer and finalist of the competition "Mrs. Siberia-2016" Victoria Golovko. The girl told the news portal about this ngs.ru. According to the girl, this happened in the early morning of June 11, 2023 at the entrance of her house, when she was returning home by taxi from celebrating her birthday.

At five in the morning, her husband called her a car using the Yandex.Taxi application. The suspect drove her home, stopped at the entrance and, when the woman hesitated, taking out the keys to the apartment, attacked her. Golovko wrote to Yandex's support service. They apologized there and promised not to send this driver again. Yandex.Taxi confirmed to the portal that their support service received the girl's appeal.

At the moment, access to service orders is limited for the driver. The user was given contacts of auxiliary centers providing legal and psychological assistance, - assured Yandex.Taxi in early July 2023.[1]
