2018: Theft of commercial secrets by means of photos of a decline
At the beginning of August, 2018 proceedings within which Xiaoqing Zheng is accused of theft of a trade secret from the former employer — General Electric corporation were initiated. Interesting how the employee stole technologies.
Technologies which were stolen by the 55-year-old ex-employee of General Electric belong to construction of turbines. Xiaoqing Zheng denies the fault, he is threatened by a prison term up to 10 years.
According to the statement of the American Ministry of Justice, Xiaoqing Zheng used steganography methods to hide files with the stolen information in imperceptible digital images which he sent to the e-mail. He ciphered data with technologies of General Electric in the form of the binary code which inserted into photos of declines or dawn.
]According to the investigation, 2015 Zheng started own business which specialized in steam turbines too in China. He decided to use powers of the chief engineer of division in General Electric and to use practices of the American corporation.
General Electric began to monitor computers of the employee, having suspected that he could use the USB stick for gaining access at least to 19 thousand files. 400 more ciphered files were found on its working computer. Presumably, Zheng began to steal industrial secrets in 2014.
The federal court of Albany (State of New York) in which case is considered refused to the accused of release on the security. After four years' investigation of FBI in its apartment there passed the search, the documents and computers belonging to Zheng are withdrawn. It became clear that in two years he five times visited China, most likely, using these trips for use of the developments stolen from General Electric.[1]
