2025: Sentence - a suspended sentence of 3.5 years for embezzlement of 400 million rubles

On February 18, 2025, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow found Rafis Yakhin, former chairman of the board of the Commercial Development Bank (KB KBR Bank), guilty in the case of embezzlement of almost 400 million rubles from a credit institution.

A civil lawsuit in the interests of the bank was sent by the state corporation Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA). In the dock, in addition to Yakhin, were his adviser Irina Child and the head of the lending department Yulia Leonova. The declared amount of damage exceeded 398 million rubles - these claims were satisfied in full.

In accordance with the court order, Yakhin was sentenced to 3.5 years of suspended imprisonment. The child and Leonova received 4.5 years in prison each.

In December 2015, the Bank of Russia revoked the CB "KBR Bank" license to carry out operations due to the credit institution's failure to comply with federal laws regulating banking activities. The decision of the Central Bank said that in case of unsatisfactory asset quality, KB "KBR Bank" inadequately assessed the risks taken in this regard. In addition, the bank did not comply with the requirements of regulatory acts in the field of countering the legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime and the financing of terrorism in terms of reliable submission to the authorized body of information on operations subject to mandatory control.

The Bank of Russia also stated that KB KBR Bank was involved in dubious transit operations. The management and owners of the organization did not take the necessary measures to normalize their activities. And in 2024, the court found the former and. about. Chairman of the Board of the Bank Sergei Krylov guilty of embezzlement of funds and sentenced him to three years in prison conditionally with a probationary period of four years.[1]
