2025: Hi-End DSS Engineering Sample Presentation

On June 19, 2025, Aerodisk presented engineering samples of its hi-end storage system based on the Aquarius hardware platform.

The solution provides simultaneous symmetric access to data through eight symmetric active-active controllers, making it the company's flagship in the segment of high-performance and fault-tolerant DSS. The system is aimed at large Russian organizations, for which business process continuity, performance and minimal response time are critical, even in extreme loads.

The target product market is corporate customers from the financial, industrial and public sectors. The system was created from scratch as a domestic product that can cover the needs of customers in an Enterprise-level infrastructure.

The solution architecture is built on a scalable model with active clustering of up to 8 controllers, combined into a single resource pool with symmetrical routing of I/O requests. This means that each controller has equal access to all volumes and provides uniform load distribution without the need for centralized path management.

Each controller is a computing module based on a domestic hardware platform with high-performance processors and network interface connectivity. Data transmission is implemented using the NVMEoF protocol.

The hardware of the system is built on a platform from Aquarius with maximum localization of components. The system uses domestic control and switching modules. The ability to connect domestic virtualization solutions and operating systems makes the product compatible with the ecosystem of Russian hardware and software.

At the first stage of development, the functionality of the system will be basic, with subsequent expansion: it is planned to introduce deduplication mechanisms, compression, snapshots, as well as other storage optimization tools. At the same time, today it provides high performance, scalability and readiness for work in large infrastructures.

DSS were designed to meet the requirements of the domestic IT ecosystem and involves close integration with Russian virtualization, backup, and data management solutions. In the future, the hi-end product line will develop towards improving functionality and performance, remaining as adapted as possible to the changing landscape of IT infrastructures.

Demonstrations of the system are planned as part of industry events and closed events for partners and customers. The new hi-end solution may be released in the horizon of one to two years, and the increase in functionality will occur iteratively: from basic storage capabilities to advanced support for corporate scenarios, including automation, data protection and integration with cloud platforms.
