Elar Corporation on April 2, 2025 announced the certification of ELAR ScanImage software version 25.2.1.0 for compatibility with Astra Linux Special Edition 1.7. The results of a series of tests conducted by specialists confirmed that software solutions interact with a high level of efficiency and safety.
The compatibility of various domestic software tools confirmed by the developers creates a synergy that allows using ELAR scanning equipment with pre-installed ScanImage software and Astra Linux Special Edition 1.7 OS for digitizing limited access documents, simplifies the implementation of special measures in the field of information protection.
Verifying the compatibility of ELAR Scan Image with Astra Linux is a significant event that is in the paradigm of our product development. 2024: Introduction of AI
The developers of domestic professional scanners ElarScan have introduced intelligent functions and algorithms based on artificial intelligence into their ScanImage software - as a result, performance and speed of digitization have increased, and many operations are now performed without direct human participation. Elar announced this on October 18, 2024.
When digitizing using ElarScan scanners, the smart software "ScanImage" in the background automatically performs a number of functions, reducing the number of manual operations and operator labor. Thus, automated scanning modes track page flipping and fingerprinting, followed by automatic scanning.
The Algorithms built into the Software allow you to determine the boundaries of the original at the time of scanning and trim at its edges with the ability to recognize several objects located on the cradle. For cases when the spread of a stitched document or book cannot be fully opened, the V-correction function is used - the original is scanned in V-mode with an incomplete opening angle, and the software performs correction and straightens the opening angle in the image and provides an absolutely flat and even digital copy of the pages of the document. Even if the operator simply unevenly placed the original on the cradle, the software will automatically eliminate this skew, saving the operator from rescanning and unnecessary work. The scanner "itself" searches for empty pages with a sensitivity threshold setting when there are numbering and other objects on the pages of the original (blob, paper clips, etc.), and also monitors images with too high or low brightness. Improvement in the quality of the received digital copies (correction of brightness and sharpness) can also occur in automatic mode, and in "Anti-flash" mode, during scanning, illumination on the surface of pages is still eliminated.
All ELAR scanners have a built-in workstation with installed proprietary functional software for scanning control and digital copy processing. The company's developers are constantly working to expand the capabilities of ScanImage and release regular updates. Cross-platform software "ScanImage" is compatible Linux with and included in, register of domestic software Ministry of Digital Development which ensures independence from foreign and software compliance with security requirements.
In addition to using intelligent algorithms during scanning, about 50 post-processing functions (filters) are available for users of ScanImage software, which can be used to improve images obtained after scanning.
