2024: Updating the system in an attempt to save 1 billion rubles
On August 27, 2024, it became known that Rosneft had introduced an updated digital pipeline monitoring system, which, according to the initiators of the project, would save more than ₽1 billion. The modernization of the RN-SMT system was carried out by specialists from the company's scientific institute in Ufa and became part of the Rosneft-2030 strategy aimed at increasing technological leadership and competitiveness in the oil market.
According to the press service of Rosneft, the new version of the software automatically determines the throughput of pipelines based on the current operating parameters of production and injection wells. This update made it possible to consolidate all data on the company's pipelines, the total length of which exceeds 80 thousand km. Now information on the technical condition of the pipelines, the results of diagnostics, as well as other important data are available to specialists in a single digital database.
Among the new capabilities of the system are the automation of the process of assessing the risks of pipeline failures and determining the optimal terms and types of maintenance. These features significantly improve the efficiency of the company's infrastructure management, minimizing risk and reducing maintenance costs.
The introduction of the updated RN-SMT software was an important step in the development of knowledge-intensive software, which Rosneft is actively integrating into its activities. Technological leadership is considered by the company as a key factor in ensuring sustainability and competitiveness in the global oil market.
The RN-SMT pipeline monitoring system has already proven its effectiveness, ensuring an economic effect. This was made possible by more accurate management of the technical condition of the pipelines and optimization of operating costs. The developed solution is integrated into the company's corporate software line, which will allow it to be used at all Rosneft facilities[1]
