Fix a vulnerability that can run any software on a vulnerable node

Positive Technologies helped fix a critical vulnerability in 1C-Bitrix products. PT reported this on December 6, 2023.

An attacker could run any software on a vulnerable node and potentially develop an attack on the local network.

The BDU:2023-05857 vulnerability with a maximum score of 10 points on the CVSS 3.0 scale was discovered by Positive Technologies expert Sergei Bliznyuk in the site management system "1C-Bitrix: Site Management" - a common commercial CMS in (the Russian domains according to). to data REG.RU The same vulnerability was identified in Bitrix24. The vendor was notified of the threat as part of a responsible disclosure policy and released an update to fix the ON vulnerability on September 14.

All sites based on "1C-Bitrix: Site Management" were affected by the vulnerabilities, starting with the "Standard" version of this product. In a CRM Bitrix24 that shares a kernel with CMS, the specified problem affected self-hosted (non-cloud) installations in some configurations.

To fix the vulnerability, you need to update the landing module to version 23.850.0 and higher. The update is available to all users with PHP 8.0 (starting from version 23.300.100, users who have not updated to PHP 8.0 do not receive the update) and with an active license. Other users can contact technical support to obtain a patch or disable the landing module.

2021: Ability to work with Cyrillic postal addresses

Version v21.300.0 of the main module "1C-Bitrix: Site Management" includes an update to the functions responsible for working with IDN domains in e-mail addresses, which allows you to work with Cyrillic e-mail. Now CMS supports both Cyrillic characters in the domain part of the address, for example, info@поддерживаю.рф, and fully Cyrillic EAI addresses (short for Email Address Internationalization), such as инфо@поддерживаю.рф. Until now, to ensure the operation of "1C-Bitrix: Site Management" with Cyrillic domains and EAI addresses, a redefinition of a number of functions was required, but now all the tasks of validation and sending e-mail to Unicode addresses are implemented by the CMS kernel. So, when entering such e-mails into news subscription forms or feedback forms, they are not blocked by validation functions, and mail messages are sent to them normally.

The update was the result of a long run of "1C-Bitrix." At the end of 2020, the Поддерживаю.РФ project tested CMS to identify inconsistencies with universal adoption and, as a result, published recommendations with examples of refinement "1C-Bitrix: Site Management" and WordPress to ensure work with partially or fully Cyrillic postal addresses in the mailing module, as well as in feedback forms.

In the new version of the web project management system "1C-Bitrix: Site Management 11.5" for the first time for CMS circulation, the online store is fully integrated with CRM (Customers Relationship Management).

Files uploaded to the cloud can be used, like regular files on the site (for example, select an image in the cloud to announce the news or insert it into the text on the site).

It became possible to save site backups in "clouds" (cloud backup) and restore "backup" from "clouds." And if the site uses files from cloud storage, you can also add them to the backup. This reduces the cost of ownership of the web project, and simplifies the storage process.

The proactive protection complex has been supplemented with a tool for auditing the security of PHP code and now allows not only to prevent the exploitation of the vulnerability, but also to eliminate its source. The check shows potential vulnerabilities in the code in the report and strengthens the protection of the site from hacking.
