2023: Product Announcement
On 31 May 2023, the Monetary Credit Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with cloud platform Google Cloud. The cooperation provides for the joint development of advanced solutions based on generative artificial intelligence. In addition, the AI Government Cloud Cluster (AGCC) platform has been launched - a private cloud for deploying state projects in the field of AI.
MAS and Google Cloud highlight three key areas of engagement. This is, in particular, the determination of potential uses for generative AI as part of internal and industry MAS services. In this area, it is planned to organize pilot technical projects and jointly create solutions taking into account the principles of responsible implementation of AI. The second area is the development of applications based on artificial intelligence and testing advanced products for the business sector. The third task is to ensure support for the development of generative AI technologies.
The AGCC system uses the Google Cloud Vertex AI platform for machine learning. It includes hardware resources based on Nvidia A100 accelerators, specialized developer tools and a repository of pre-trained generative AI models. The AGCC project aims to lay the groundwork for the rapid development of artificial intelligence in Singapore. In particular, a variety of AI models will be available to government agencies and the private sector to create certain services.
One of the first opportunities of AGCC will be used by the State Technology Agency (GovTech) of Singapore: the agency will create a chatbot, which government employees will be able to use to improve labor productivity. MAS plans to use AI tools to combat money laundering, control compliance, etc.[1]
