2023: Product Announcement
On September 13, 2023, the Danish company Ambu announced the aScope Gastro Large device - it is said to be the world's first gastroscope with a 4.2 mm working channel. In addition, it is a first-in-class bioplastic solution.
Compared to therapeutic gastroscopes with a 3.7 mm working channel, the aScope Gastro Large product provides increased suction power while maintaining the maneuverability and accuracy inherent in standard tools. Thanks to this, doctors can get to anatomically inaccessible areas. The device can be used in intensive care and endoscopy facilities for procedures in the upper gastrointestinal tract, such as stopping bleeding, necrectomy and stent installation, which require a large working channel and powerful absorption capacity.
The system uses bioplastic-based materials and the handle is made from recycled raw materials. This approach provides an opportunity to reduce the overall carbon footprint and reduce the negative impact on the environment. The device has passed CE certification: this means that the solution meets the basic requirements of the directives and harmonized standards of the European Union.
The aScope Gastro Large gastroscope can be used in conjunction with the Ambu aBox 2 system, which is a display and data processing unit with a built-in 12.8-inch touchscreen with Full HD resolution. Advanced image processing and adaptive lighting control provide a clear image that will help maneuver and identify anatomical structures. There is a built-in recorder: the recordings obtained during the recording procedure can be scaled and analyzed. According to Ambu, the work is simplified thanks to the use of an intuitive interface.[1]
