2020: Release of the desktop version of the ATI Messenger application

On November 24, 2020, ATI.SU Freight Exchange announced the release of a desktop version of the ATI Messenger application.

ATI Messenger is an application for communication of all participants in the supply chain: cargo owner, forwarding agent, carrier, driver registered on the ATI.SU Freight Exchange. It is part of an ecosystem of services that allows you to digitize the process of transporting cargo, from the search for a counterparty to the exchange of closing documents on the fact of delivery of cargo.

ATI Messenger operates in two versions: as a web application on the ATI.SU Freight Exchange website and as a mobile application. In early November 2020, the company's development team released its desktop version for Windows, which can be used without being online on the site. The main task of the next version of the messenger is to provide an alternative to users and the ability to communicate in a convenient format: someone prefers to work with the application on the phone, someone - online, and someone is comfortable to have a separate shortcut on the desktop and receive notifications, even when the browser is closed.

With the help of ATI Messenger, the cargo owner and freight carrier can agree on transportation in real time. The forwarding agent can be in communication with the driver, be aware of the movement of cargo at various points of the route. At the end of the transportation process, counterparties can exchange documents.

The development of the desktop version of the ATI Messenger application was carried out by the same team that worked on the web application without attracting third-party resources. Electron technology was chosen for development. This is a popular tool that allows you to quickly support changes in functionality. And all the features that are available on the Exchange website appear in the desktop version of the application automatically. The team tried to make the application as similar as possible to the web version so that users did not need to get used to the new one. When updates appear, you only need to restart the program, without any additional actions.

In August, a beta version of the desktop application with limited functionality was released, feedback from users was collected, and appropriate adjustments and improvements were quickly made. The functionality of the desktop ATI Messenger completely duplicates the web version. There are also opportunities to communicate in group chats on orders, create interest channels and publish news in them for subscribers. Next year's plans are to finalize improvements for Windows and release a desktop application for macOS.

When developing ATI Messenger, special attention was paid to security issues. Only members of the logistics industry with a personal password set for entering the ATI.SU Freight Exchange can use the product and communicate with counterparties. All transmitted data is protected by SSL or TLS cryptographic protocols.

ATI Messenger is the first desktop application created by our team. Therefore, we can say that this is a new step in the development of the ecosystem of digital services, which we consistently create in order to transfer all participants in the supply chain to work in a single digital field. In logistics, much attention is paid to negotiations, building communications with partners, data exchange, so we try to give our users the most convenient version of the tool so that they can be constantly in touch.
