AWS Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (EKS) is service of orchestration of containers with a scaling option.
Features
Amazon of EKS supports the containers Kubernetes, simplifies start and scaling on AWS applications on the basis of containers. Service eliminates need for installation and use of own software for orchestration of containers. It is not necessary to manage clusters of virtual machines and to scale them and also to plan work of containers on these virtual machines.
Amazon of EKS supports AWS Fargate technology that allows to unroll containers and to manage them without need to select servers and to manage them.
Amazon of EKS simplifies creation of any types of applications on the basis of containers — from applications and microservices with the long period of work to batch jobs and applications machine learning. It is possible to transfer outdated applications Linux or Windows from a local network to a cloud and to start them in containers using the solution Amazon.
2018: Global start
At the beginning of June, 2018 announced Amazon global start of a cloud service of Amazon of EKS to increase the competitive level in fight against Google in the market of implementation services Kubernetes.
Clients say to us that Kubernetes is a basis of their IT strategy. Every week based on AWS it is started hundreds of millions containers — the chief specialist on promotion of information technologies of AWS Jeff Bar said. |
It provided data of the organization Cloud Native Computing Foundation (directs the Kubernetes project), according to which, about 57% of implementations of Kubernetes happen through AWS. Amazon hopes for increase in this indicator at the expense of Amazon of EKS as the solution offers managed service which simplifies deployment, and offers advantages and the AWS functions.[1]
