2018: Integration with VirusTotal

On December 24, 2018 the Acronis company, the company in the field of cyber defense and hybrid cloud storage, announced that its system of detection of the malware Acronis PE Analyzer created using machine learning is integrated into VirusTotal service from Google now.

The Acronis PE Analyzer system represents further development of the solutions proposed by Acronis company in the field of fight with harmful SOFTWARE created based on artificial intelligence and is capable to reveal all types of the malware in the environment of Windows PE by means of models machine learning. Malware, based on executable files, still is the main threat for operating systems Windows which, according to messages of solution providers security in the field from around the world, every year only amplifies. Laboratories of testing antiviruses like AV-TEST daily register about 400,000 samples of the malware, including different trojans, backdoors, programs racketeers and kriptodzheker.

The model of machine learning developed by specialists of Acronis is model-based "A gradient busting over decisive trees" in combination with several models of neuronets that allows to create file "portrait" of above-mentioned threats on the basis of different direct current characteristics. The detection model created based on machine learning works very quickly as in itself is very compact and effective. It can independently work, without connection to the Internet, and provides high percent of detection in dynamics on time without regular updating.

Before joining VirusTotal, the scanning services should provide certificates or withdrawals of the independent laboratories working in the field of security and observing the standards of testing set by the Organization for standards of testing of means of protecting from malware (AMTSO). Being a member of AMTSO, the Acronis company directed the system to check in AV-TEST laboratory which confirmed efficiency of the solution of Acronis on detection of the malware with the minimum quantity of false operations.

The Acronis PE Analyzer system was developed as a component of a packet of means of cyber defense which Acronis will release in 2019. It will be constantly improved taking into account information which will be obtained during its use within service VirusTotal. Process of improvement of the detection system will continue to bring even more benefit to associates of VirusTotal.
