2023: Sale of AI-generated photos of Israel-Hamas war
In early November 2023, it became known that Adobe it was selling generated artificial intelligence images depicting the conflict between Israel and the group HAMAS in the Gaza Strip. These illustrations have varying degrees of realism; moreover, sometimes the media pass them off as real, without explicitly indicating that they were created by. neuronets
It is noted that upon request on the topic of the war between Israel and Hamas, the Adobe Stock library produces many AI images showing the streets destroyed by the war, explosions, soldiers, tanks and burning buildings, as well as children standing among the city ruins. According to the rules of the Adobe site, which sells content provided by individual authors, all images created using AI tools must be labeled accordingly. But some of the illustrations presented in the service database are marked as synthesized by AI in small print, and not in names. Because of this, such images can get into media publications under the guise of real photos.
The observed situation creates the risk of spreading false information. The likelihood of AI images hitting media publications is also increasing because many of the illustrations bear big titles, such as "The Powerful Explosion That Lit Up Palestine's Skyline" or "A Wounded Israeli Woman Clings to a Soldier, Begging for Help." And as AI-generated content becomes more realistic and pervasive, without special tagging, it can be extremely difficult for ordinary users to determine whether an image is genuine or not.
Adobe is committed to combating misinformation, and as part of an initiative to ensure the authenticity of content, we are working with publishers, camera manufacturers and other stakeholders to resolve this issue, the company says.[1] |
