2023: Product Announcement
In late March 2023, Singapore-based Aevice Health announced the release of a wearable AeviceMD stethoscope to monitor respiratory health. The solution is aimed at patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - a common ailment that causes restriction of air flow in the respiratory tract and makes breathing difficult.
The AeviceMD device, which uses artificial intelligence technology, is designed to be worn on the chest. The instrument continuously captures abnormal breathing sounds such as wheezing. In addition, vital signs are monitored, including heart rate and respiratory rhythm. The system is suitable for adults and children aged three years and older. Stethoscope can be used both clinically and at home.
Singapore has one of the highest rates of asthma and COPD in the world. Asthma affects about 5% of adults and 20% of children in the country, while COPD is on the list of the top ten causes of death. With the proposed remote health monitoring technology, Aevice Health aims to help reduce emergency calls and reduce the number of readmissions among patients suffering from chronic respiratory diseases.
By providing medical professionals with data on the patient's lung condition, AeviceMD promotes early detection of potential exacerbations. Clinical trials of the new device have already been successfully carried out in conjunction with the National University Health System, a group of medical institutions in Singapore. In the future, the wearable stethoscope is planned to be offered on the international market. In particular, the device is presented in Japan.[1]
