Activiti is Business Process Management Suite (BPM) open source. Activiti is the independent product which does not have direct link with the popular workflow system Alfresco.
Activiti extends on the terms of the license Apache. Development of Activiti is conducted according to the new BPMN 2.0 standards developed by consortium Object Management Group (OMG). Besides, when developing Activiti special attention is paid to new technology trends, including ensuring interoperability and compatibility with cloud computing.
According to Alfresco, Activiti represents the platform, lightweight, suitable for integration with other software, for business process management intended for work in the scalable cloud systems.
It is expected that Activiti will become the main offer of Alfresco in the market of BPM. At the same time, Alfresco will continue to support the competing solution JBoss jBPM (which was also initially developed by Tom Beyens) and also other Business Process Management Suite which are supported in Alfresco now.
The first Alpha-version of Activiti includes the Activiti Engine engine, the administrative Activiti Probe console, the application for management of the task lists Activiti Explorer and the simular of business processes Activiti Modeler compatible to the BPMN 2.0 standard. The alpha of Activiti is available to free downloading on the official site of the developer.
