2021: Smartwatch Presentation

On September 14, 2021, the presentation of the Apple Watch Series 7 took place. The manufacturer claims that this is the most durable watch in the history of the company, and thanks to the thin frames (1.7 mm) along the perimeter of the display, the area of the latter was the largest among all generations of the Apple Watch.

According to developers, the screen area in Apple Watch Series 7 is 20% more than in the 6th version. In the room, the always-on Retina display shines up to 70% brighter than the Apple Watch Series 6 display, so the information on the dial is clearly visible, even when the user's hand with the clock is lowered and they are in inactive mode, the press release said.

It also says that the user interface is optimized taking into account the new display format. On the Apple Watch Series 7, two new larger fonts and a QWERTY keyboard for typing appeared. Text can be typed by touching keys or by swiping over the display from one letter to another if QuickPath is enabled. And for additional speed and convenience of typing, machine learning functions on the device predict the next word taking into account the context. In watchOS 8, menu headers and buttons in applications such as Stopwatch, Activity, and Alarm Clock have become larger.

The shape of the front glass of the Apple Watch Series 7 has changed, and it has become 50% thicker than the Apple Watch Series 6. Apple Watch Series 7 have an IP6X dust protection certificate, so you can safely take your watch to the beach or to the desert. Water protection corresponds to class WR50.

Autonomy with an enlarged screen was saved at the same level - 18 hours on one charge. But the Series 7 is charged - with a new USB-C cable (instead of USB-A) - 33% faster than its predecessor. Just a few minutes of charging is enough for 8 hours of sleep tracking.

The cost of the Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399. Smartwatch sales will begin in the fall of 2021.[1]
