2020: Announcement of the Aquilion Exceed LB KT-scanner
At the end of October, 2020 Canon Medical Systems provided the computer Aquilion Exceed LB tomograph intended for planning of radiation therapy. The new scanner is supplied with a wide opening with a diameter of 90 cm and also AI opportunities of recovery of images.
Until recently most of KT-specialists reorientated the existing products for use in oncological organizations. In response to this still not met demand Canon decided to develop from scratch the KT-system intended especially for radiation therapy.
Clients of Canon in the field of radiation oncology reported to the company that they need the computer tomograph with the widest opening for exact and simple positioning of the patient. At the same time meter men would prefer a system in which data are provided for all field of the overview. At last, users also showed interest in the full-function scanner which could be used not only for performing radiation therapy, but also for diagnostic testings.
Taking into account these requirements of Canon Medical Systems developed Aquilion Exceed LB which represents the 160-slice computer tomograph of a premium class with a diameter of opening of 90 cm, i.e. the widest in the industry. Data are reconstructed on all field of the overview thanks to the Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR) Canon Advanced Intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) technology for the first time applied in a line of KT to diagnostic inspections. The scanner also allows to automate as much as possible workflow, for example, using three-dimensional isocentering and reconstruction of images. The table of the scanner can be moved on 8.5 cm in any direction to facilitate positioning of the patient.[1]
