2021: Start of electric car sales from Arcfox with Huawei autopilot

In early April 2021, Arcfox introduced an electric car equipped with a set of unmanned driving functions from Huawei. The Arcfox aS HBT model is the first electric car with the Huawei HI system, which runs on the Huawei Harmony operating system. Autopilot is equipped with lidar and supports connection to 5G networks.

Huawei HI is a new generation of automotive system, different from the simpler Huawei HiCar Smart Screen system, which is already used in cars of the Chinese manufacturer BYD. The Huawei HI system can also be integrated with older models of electric vehicles, which will give them intelligent functions.

Arcfox aS HBT supports a Layer 3 autopilot system. This level of automation allows drivers to be safely distracted from the road under certain scenarios, but they should still be ready to intervene if necessary in the driving process.

Huawei has embarked on the development of automotive systems using 5G technology in order to expand its activities in the face of sanctions restrictions by the United States. The company has already established partnerships with 18 automakers, which are expected to use the company's achievements in 5G communications technology and the development of connected cars.

Unlike rival Xiaomi, which announced that it was working on its own electric car, Huawei does not intend to produce a smart car under its own brand. This was told by Huawei Chairman Ken Hu Hawkun. Huawei's current strategy in the automotive sector remains limited to being a supplier, not an electric vehicle manufacturer.[1]
