2017: Release of Atoun Model Y
In December, 2017 the Panasonic company announced development of a robotic exoskeleton of Atoun Model Y intended for medical personnel, workers who are looking after elderly people and also builders, helping them to protect health and to reduce physical activities.
The new model succeeded Atoun Model A and has with a reduced weight at 40% — 4.4 kg against 7.4 kg respectively. It was succeeded to facilitate an exoskeleton due to replacement of a metal framework polymeric and use of more compact engines and rechargeable batteries.
Besides, developers finished convenience of landing, smoothness of movements, mobility and structural efficiency. Affirms that innovation is adapted to safe use in the conditions of the raised radiation background.
The exoskeleton fastens on a waist and supports a waist of the person when it raises or moves weights. Locational sensors precisely monitor movements of the user in space, the built-in algorithm foresees further actions. Engines synchronously duplicate them, unloading on muscles of the person.
Exoskeletons are rather widely used in construction, the logistic centers, at factories, agricultural farms and t. item.
On December 21, 2017 Panasonic began acceptance of preorders on purchase of Atoun Model Y. The first 10 samples of an exoskeleton will go to the Hong Kong construction company Gammon Construction Limited which in February, 2018 will begin testing of the equipment.
Start of global sales of Atoun Model Y is planned for April, 2018. The cost of a product is not reported, but in Panasonic note that use of components of mass production and simplification of build process made a product more available at the price in comparison with Atoun Model A.
