2025: Product Announcement

On June 2, 2025, Rostelecom introduced the Aurora Automobile domestic operating system for managing the digital car environment. The new platform was created on the basis of the Aurora OS, developed by the Open Mobile Platform company, which is part of the Rostelecom group. The system is designed to increase the technological independence of the Russian automotive industry and provide a new level of customer experience in 2025.

According to the press service of the company, the domestic platform for managing the digital environment of a car is being developed as an alternative to foreign solutions. The Aurora Automobile OS serves as the basis for the Aurora Auto software product, which includes a graphical user interface, services and an application store.

The platform provides automakers with deep integration with vehicle systems to realize the wide functionality of multimedia and information products. The system allows you to create complex solutions for controlling various functions of the vehicle through a single interface.

The project started with an agreement signed in 2024. Subsequently, the development received the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and aroused interest from key players in the automotive market.

Russian automakers consider the domestic platform Aurora Automobile as a replacement for foreign solutions such as Android Automotive. The use of a domestic system will reduce dependence on imported technologies in the automotive industry.

"Rostelecom" demonstrated the functionality and flexibility of the graphical interface of the new operating system. The system has shown the possibilities of adapting to the user's needs and integration with various digital services.

Aurora Automobile OS is integrated with geoservices based on 2GIS technologies, which provides navigation functions. The system also supports connection to music services and the Wink online cinema for entertainment content.^[1]
