2022: Purpose and Functionality

WOS (Warehouse Operation System) can be used when the use of a full-fledged WMS is cumbersome and impractical.

For example, AXELOT WOS can be used in organizations with a large number of warehouses, among which there are large and small warehouses. In large warehouses, it is usually necessary to install a full-fledged WMS, and in small warehouses, the functionality of a full-fledged WMS will be redundant and can only lead to a complication of the work of warehouse personnel and a slowdown in the work of the warehouse. The functionality of a full-fledged WMS will also be redundant at production enterprises, with a large number of small supply warehouses, shop pantries, etc., or in retail trade according to the dark-store scheme, where it is necessary to ensure the rapid execution of operations.

As warehouse needs grow, AXELOT provides a simple transition from WOS to WMS.

As of June 2022, AXELOT WOS is a component of the AXELOT X logistics platform and seamlessly interacts with other platform components in real time. AXELOT WOS can be implemented separately or in conjunction with other components of the AXELOT X platform.

AXELOT WOS has passed certification and officially confirmed the possibility of working with Postgres Pro.

AXELOT WOS provides the following functions:

  • Automation of putaway operations, including:
    • planning of acceptance according to CIM data;
    • automatic generation of tasks for goods acceptance;
    • acceptance of goods taking into account additional accounting sections consisting of: batch, shelf life, serial number, PPE;
    • acceptance of goods in various packages with the identification of goods in using barcodes;
    • control of receipts and a plan of actual analysis of receipts.

  • Automation of cross-docking and handling of transit cargoes without storage and without identification of goods.
  • Automate the storage and warehousing of goods, including:

    • movements between warehouses and intra-warehouse movements of goods;
    • changes in the condition of cargo items;
    • warehouse processing taking into account batches and shelf life dates;
    • shelf life control during warehouse operations;
    • creation of tasks for inventory;
    • registration of identified surplus, shortage and scrap during warehouse operations;
    • generation of barcodes of storage objects, cargo items, performers, printers.

  • Automate shipping operations, including:

    • reservation of goods according to the CIS data;
    • automatic generation of tasks for shipment;
    • formation of tasks for assembly and disassembly of cargo items;
    • shipment of goods and cargo items;
    • preparation of shipping documents.

A characteristic difference between WOS and WMS is that WOS lacks mechanisms for planning warehouse processes and warehouse personnel. When performing warehouse operations in WOS, all decisions are made by the executors based on the data that is available in the system. WOS is therefore a decision support system and WMS is a warehouse process management system.[1]
