2023: Product Announcement
In early February 2023, the Chinese company BOE showed a monitor for viewing 3D images without glasses. It is planned that such devices will be widely used during advertising, at exhibitions, etc.
This 110-inch 3D monitor has an 8K resolution and 120Hz screen refresh rate. According to BOE, more hertz means that users receive more frames per second, which creates a smoother display of actions on the screen. A device with a resolution of 8K fits 7680 pixels horizontally and 4320 pixels vertically. The manufacturer BOE claims that the 3D image on the TV screen can be seen by several users from different angles.
According to the developers, the monitor uses innovative lens array technology combined with Mini-LED lighting technology and quantum dots. Mini-LED display technology that promises better contrast and deeper black compared to other LCD panels that are illuminated by conventional LEDs. The technology reduces the number of LED modules, which significantly increases the number of contrast control zones.
Users can see a stereoscopic image at a distance of no more than 1.5 m from the screen. A three-dimensional image can be seen at once by several people from different angles. However, according to BOE engineers, the work will continue in 2023, and this distance will be increased in 2024.
In 2022, Acer also introduced products based on spectacle-free 3D displays: Helios 300 Spatial Labs Edition and Spatial Labs View/View Pro portable monitors. Models are focused on home or gaming use, the devices support the function of converting 2D images to 3D.[1]
