2020: SmartLink 2.0

The company Huawei announced on November 30, 2020 that the Beijing branch of the company - China Unicom - Beijing Unicom is updating private SmartLink lines to version 2.0.

According to the company, in November 2018, the Beijing Unicom branch of China (Beijing Unicom) launched private SmartLink lines, which are a product with an improved OTN (PeOTN) packet optical transport network and support for iMaster NCE. This product is a differentiated private line service and is offered to users throughout China.

Over the past two years, more than 6,500 private SmartLink services (40-fold growth) have been provided in a number of industries, such as finance, the Internet, public services and research. As of November 2020, the user of private lines SmartLink gets access to the self-service portal on average 1.5 times a month and has the ability to request parameters such as bandwidth, delay, availability and health. The monthly use of the self-service portal by all users has increased 61 times in two years. In addition, the use of the self-service feature has led to an increase in popularity of additional services, such as providing on-demand bandwidth on-demand. In September 2020, Beijing Unicom processed 352 online requests for increased speed, which is more than 100 times higher than two years ago. Due to the updated monthly payment model for the provided bandwidth on demand, Beijing Unicom's revenue in September 2020 year amounted to more than 300,000 yuan.

Private lines were SmartLink actively used during, pandemics which guaranteed the transfer of epidemiological data to the data National Commission. In health care China February 2019, China launched a health code program through various applications to combat the spread of the virus. Codes health are assigned different colors depending on stories the disease and human movements. The data used to create these codes are collected using private lines in the National Health Commission data analysis platform.

A private line SmartLink is an isolated "hard" channel. To further enhance security, OTN devices are equipped with encryption boards for secure transmission of epidemic data and protection of user privacy.

As of November 2020, private SmartLink lines are being improved to version 2.0, which provides full-featured E2E connections for vertical connection of multi-cloud services, such as industry, private clouds cloud state and organizations, as well as horizontal integration of multiple access services, i.e./MEC and 5G 10G PON. Thanks to the synergy of the cloud and network, as well as a variety of access services, private SmartLink lines are able to support the communication infrastructure of various industries and serve the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in. Beijing

A range of cloud and private line services SmartLink optimizes the efficiency of cloud and network synergies. This enables users to self-service through a single cloud and network user interface. Private lines are SmartLink capable of providing wide coverage to key users in various industries. To provide easy access to a low latency cloud, you can deploy near cloud pools and data centers, regardless of location.

Differentiated private lines will SmartLink contribute to the development of cloud and other services through cloud + private line + X packages. In addition, artificial intelligence technologies will be used in private SmartLink lines to expand the capabilities of the autonomous control network (ADN). This enables you to predict and prevent network failures, identify the simultaneous use of the same fiber optic cable by working and protecting channels, evaluate service availability and optimize it accordingly, and perform service analysis and automatically adjust bandwidth at the request of customers. AI technologies will ensure the transition of ADN private lines SmartLink from L2 (partial autonomy) to L3 (conditional automation).

As a key telecommunications partner for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Beijing Unicom will provide private lines and cloud services to the Olympic Games organizing committee. In the management center of the organizing committee, users will be able to get a full understanding of the differentiated services of SmartLink, including:

  • management of segments of private networks used for various purposes, including for relaying sporting events;
  • reports on serviceability check of private lines (service serviceability prediction and stability analysis);
  • GIS positioning of routes and risks for active and standby private lines;
  • Service level agreements (SLAs) for private lines and network resource availability management
  • intelligent speed increase depending on the sports events plan and network traffic.
