2019: Announcement
At the end of February, 2019 Sony and Fujitsu announced a blockchain system creation, intended for storage and viewing reliable information about education of citizens. The technology will expose applicants of work who provide counterfeit diplomas and also the foreigners trying to receive the status of the Japanese resident fraudulently.
For obtaining residence of Japan citizens of other countries should provide to immigration body the certificate, confirmatory that they passed examinations for knowledge of Japanese or took the corresponding courses during certain time.
As a rule, such certificates are issued by educational institutions outside Japan, and local language schools file to bureau documents on behalf of these foreign organizations. Cases of counterfeit of such certificates therefore Fujitsu and Sony tried to solve this problem are even more often opened.
The Japanese companies integrated an online training system of Fujitsu with the blockchain technology developed by division of Sony Global Education.
A system displays information on passing of online courses of Japanese in the different countries: all data and certificates issued to foreigners are registered in a blockchain.
The Japanese language schools in Japan can also compare the issued certificates to the registered data in the decentralized register to be convinced of their authenticity.
Blockchain system, designed to fight against counterfeit of educational documents, began to test at the end of February, 2019. Its practical application will begin within financial year which for many Japanese companies starts on April 1.
Development is also going to be adapted for check of people at employment. Personnel department will be able to verify information on study which was provided by the applicant, with real data from educational institutions.[1]
