2025: Product Announcement

At the end of April 2025, the presentation and first launch of the unique sea drone Blue Whale, the world's first surface boat capable of transforming into an underwater vehicle, took place in the Chinese city of Zhuhai. The drone, 11 meters long and 12 tons in displacement, speeds up to 40 knots on the surface and can go unnoticed for months at a depth.

According to 163.com, the Chinese unmanned boat is equipped with water-jet engines to achieve high speed and a magnetohydrodynamic system that ensures stealth during underwater travel. The intelligent component of the device is represented by AI algorithms responsible for autonomous navigation in difficult maritime conditions.

World's first high-speed underwater unmanned boat launched

Drone developers note that most modern unmanned vessels have a low degree of stealth and maneuverability, have a weak ability to withstand wind and waves, limited autonomy and a low level of intelligence. Blue Whale is able not only to quickly attack and maneuver flexibly, but also to quickly dive underwater after completing a mission, be at rest for a long time and expect new instructions, becoming a real "underwater ghost."

A feature of the design is a modular platform that allows you to install various scientific or military equipment on the drone, depending on the tasks set. Blue Whale is fully autonomous and can be at sea for up to 30 days without the need for refueling or maintenance.

The device is being tested for various civilian missions. In particular, it is tested to monitor typhoons with the ability to pass through the "eye of the storm," map the seabed and service underwater communication cables.[1]
