2023: Product Usage Begins

In early March 2023, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published a video showing the use of kamikaze drones by units of the Airborne Forces (Airborne Forces). The department published the personnel on its Telegram channel.

According to the ministry, the Boomerang is a simple design of a sports drone: four screws, four small engines, a massive battery and the main element of this kamikaze drone - a special container filled with striking elements, filled with plastid and equipped with a fuse.

The calculation of the Boomerang UAV includes an operator who controls the drone using special virtual reality (VR) glasses, and its assistant who launches the drone and tracks the flight direction by map.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the advantages of the new drone over the usual ones are the orientation in space convenient for the operator and the ability to easily go through a route or pursue a moving target at a speed of up to 170 km/h. Also, Boomerang does not have a satellite communication module, so the anti-drone gun is powerless against it, the department added. It is noted that the drone is used to destroy moving targets, manpower in dugouts and special shelters. A drone operator can pilot a kamikaze drone between trees.

Earlier it became known that Russian Armed Forces during the special operation To Ukraine several hundred domestic kamikaze drones have already been used on. In particular, we are talking about drones "" and Cube two types "" Lancetas- they show high efficiency in the destruction of anti-aircraft missile systems of Ukrainian troops, as well as radar stations of various types and the destruction of enemy manpower.^[1]
