Brocade MLXe

Brocade MLXe is the multiservice router of the sixth generation.

Brocade MLXe routers are focused on use on the transport networks of operators and service providers, for transfer of large volumes of the user traffic, in data processing centers where not blocked architecture is important.

Completely distributed architecture of the router allows to reach values of performance to 15.36 Tb / with or to 5 billion packets per second. The platform has extremely high performance for networks where the high density of not blocked ports with high scalability and complete operator functionality is necessary.

Together with Brocade MLXe it is possible to use 2-port 100 GB the module, with a possibility of the postponed activation of the 2nd port using the license that does 100 GB of Ethernet more well for the customer.

The functionality of the software of the router allows consolidation up to 64 10-gigabit ports in one virtual channel capacity of 640 Gbit or 16 100-gigabit ports in one virtual channel capacity of 1.6 Tb.

The Brocade Direct Routing (BDR) technology allows to perform hardware routing of the user traffic on line cards without participation of the managing module.

This line of routers has two types of modules for networks for which the high density of 10 GB of ports is necessary:

• NI-MLX-10GX8-D - is intended for corporate networks or DPC networks, has 8 slots of SFP+ with support of Layer 2/IPv4/IPv6 of functionality (256000 IPv4 of routes on a line card).

• NI-MLX-10GX8-M - is intended for networks of operators, has 8 slots of SFP+ with support of Layer 2/IPv4/IPv6/MPLS/VPLS/QinQ of functionality on a line card.

For networks of operators for whom aggregation of traffic in an optical network of SDH is necessary there are modules with support of the PacketoverSonet (PoS) protocol, up to 64 OC-192 (STM-64) interfaces or 256 OS-48 (STM-16).

Expansion of functionality of security Brocade MLXe

On February 16, 2015 the Brocade company offered functionality of the built-in data encryption for the products - modular routers.

This functionality provides a comprehensive protection of data in DPC and campus networks, distributed networks of the companies, telecom operators and the state organizations.

As a part of Brocade MLXe safety features support of 256-bit enciphering at the IP level and 128-bit enciphering at the level of MAC - the conventional standards of security. These functions can be applied on completely loaded interfaces 1 and 10 of Gbps of Ethernet that allows the device to meet the highest requirements to performance.

Native means of enciphering and decoding in the router help network to perform the major functions at data protection. Such approach allows to improve the capacity of the available safety controls, to increase the level of security of the enterprise upon its transition to use of hybrid cloud infrastructure.

New IPsec and MACsec functionality for Brocade MLXe routers supplements functionality of MACsec-enciphering in the Brocade ICX switches and functionality of IPsec-enciphering in Brocade Vyatta vRouter, helps to implement technology of native enciphering for protection of all transmitted data, including those that are in "cloud".
