On May 21, 2024, Rostelecom introduced the first Russian carrier-level base station for mobile networks. The device was developed by Bulat (a subsidiary of Rostelecom) and is produced at the site of the Russian Telecommunications Technologies NPO (RTT NPO).

Rostelecom did not disclose the technical characteristics of the device and only said that it would work on commercial networks of operators in the 450/800/900/ 1800/2100/2300/2600 MHz ranges.

According to him, by May 21, 2024, the process of testing samples of base stations in the Tele2 laboratory is being completed and the process of organizing the production of equipment has already begun. The equipment meets the criteria of domestic, the application for the assignment of this status has already been submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Komarov said.

The press service of Rostelecom clarified that the software for base stations is being developed by Novye Telecom Solutions LLC (NTR). In April 2024, confirmation of the introduction of software into the register of domestic software was received.

Bulat has entered into forward contracts for the supply of base stations with Rostelecom and MegaFon. As stated in Rostelecom, the equipment tests confirmed the compliance of the signal transmission levels with the calculated ones, demonstrated the required quality of the mobile voice connection and the availability of data transmission services of the telecommunications network, comparable to the decisions of world industry leaders.[1]
