C + walk T (electric scooter)

2021: Announcement of electric scooter for movement in large territories

On October 1, 2021, Toyota Motor announced the release of an electric scooter for moving across large areas of the C + walk T. The device will go on sale with car dealers of the company and will be offered at rental points.

C + walk T easy-to-operate tricycle scooter of standing type. The device has a low, flat base 150 mm high for ease of landing and landing. The model is designed so that it is convenient to use in pedestrian areas, which makes it easier to move side by side and communicate with other pedestrians.

In terms of potential corporate use scenarios, C + walk T can be used to move around large facilities or to ease the walking burden of older security users, and can also be used in excursions held in parks and other facilities. The manufacturer lists the following product features:

• Accelerator levers on both sides of the C + walk T steering wheel can be used to control, accelerate, slow down and stop. The user needs to press the lever to accelerate and release the lever to stop. Brake levers located on both sides of the steering wheel can be used to provide greater deceleration if necessary, and pressing the reverse button allows the vehicle to move backwards.

• The removable lithium-ion battery can be fully charged in about 2.5 hours using the included charger from the AC network of 100 W.

• The C + walk T uses in-wheel motors: a brushless DC motor is located in the front wheel, which provides smooth acceleration, deceleration and rotation. At the usual walking speed of a person, the vehicle is able to travel about 14 km on one battery charge.

• Device has one front and two rear wheels. When turning the steering wheel by a maximum of 90 °, the vehicle is able to turn in place, the minimum turning radius is only 0.59 m.

• The vehicle is designed so that it can be driven standing, which facilitates communication between people and has a modern form that minimizes stress for nearby people.

• The steering bar is the part that connects the top of the front fork to the lower part of the steering wheel, smoothly connects to the polymer body, which has a removable battery, which can be attached or removed by one action.

• The device is made in a two-color color scheme: mainly the black body is supplemented by warm gray resin parts.

• C + walk T is equipped with obstacle detection functions that help avoid collisions with obstacles or pedestrians in front. When the peripheral detection sensor in the front of the device detects a person or an obstacle , the operating system (OS) issues both a visual warning on the display panel and an audio warning and slows the vehicle down to about 2 km/h, thereby supporting safe driving.
