2019: A withdrawal of cars because of the rejected software
On December 19, 2019 announced General Motors (GM) two service campaigns within which the American car maker recalls in total more than 900 thousand machines.
The visit for carrying out repair is recommended for the dealer to owners over 550 thousand Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cadillac CT6 and GMC Sierra cars. In them the faulty software because of which the brake system is blocked is revealed, and notifications about it to motorists are not output.
GM claims that such error arises extremely seldom, however it can lead to serious effects. Because of it in the vehicle the stability control system or the anti-lock brake system can be switched-off. Problems are added that electronics will not recognize an error and does not signal about it on the meter panel. Such cars need updating of a firmware of the electronic systems which is made in the official service centers.
In parallel GM recalls more than 400 thousand Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups which are released in 2019 or are already made for sale in the 2020th. In them too much glue can be applied on a cable of the plus jumper of the rechargeable battery owing to what there is a risk of ignition or sudden shutdown of the engine. The car maker knows of one case of the fire. It was without victims.
The dealers cooperating with GM will check potentially defective cars for availability of glue and different pollution and to replace the damaged components in case of need.
According to Reuters, the company began a large-scale response after the problem with a stop of the engine was announced by the employee of GM in Canada. The majority of machines (about 814 thousand) responds in the American market.[1]
