2021: Start of electric car sales
On September 18, 2021, the American company Cadillac began to accept orders for its first Lyriq electric car. The total available limit of 1.5 thousand cars was sold out in 19 minutes.
The electric car was based on a completely new GM platform, developed specifically for electric vehicles. Cadillac President Steve Carlisle promised that the new model will combine luxury and innovation. The company already promises that a number of models with different types of bodies will be created on this platform, and a flexible architecture will allow laying models with any type of drive: front, rear or full.
The base price of Lyriq will be a little less than $60 thousand. In the Debut Edition version, the Lyriq car has a glass roof, an AKG sound system with 19 speakers and an active noise cancellation system, an automatic parking system, a digital key and adaptive cruise control. The car will be equipped with a 100 kVt⋅ch battery, delivering up to 340 horsepower to the rear wheels and will have a range of more than 483 km. It comes with a built-in AC charger with a power of 19.2 kW and can be charged with direct current up to 190 kW, in which case in 10 minutes you can replenish the charge for a run of 122 km. The cabin has a single display on the front panel, which combines devices, media system and other functions. Super Cruise, a driver assistance technology from General Motors (GM), will also be available on Lyriq.
The basic configuration of the car already includes LED headlights and lights, 18-inch alloy discs, heated steering wheel and rear seats, an audio system with seven speakers. Optional premium audio system Bose with 13 speakers.
Cadillac Lyriq advertises some show business stars. The main role in the commercial was played by actress Regina King. [1]
