2022: Transfer to BRICS countries of the results of space survey by Canopus-V satellites of territories with an area of over 85 thousand square meters. km
In 2022 Russia , she transmitted to the countries BRICS the results space of the survey remote sensing of the Earth of territories with a total area of over 85 thousand square kilometers by domestic Canopus-V satellites. This was announced on December 21, 2022 by representatives of the holding. "Russian Space Systems"
The provision of data from the DZZ was carried out by the Scientific Center for Operational Monitoring of the Earth (NC OMZ) of the Russian Space Systems holding (RCS, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) within the framework of the agreement signed in 2021 between the BRICS countries on the exchange of such information to solve problems related to climate change, assistance in environmental protection and elimination of the consequences of natural and man-made emergencies and disasters.
"From June to October 2022, specialists of the space facilities operator DZZ - NC OMZ - under a contract with Roscosmos provided space photography of foreign territories of the BRICS countries in accordance with the applications received. In total, BRICS partners were provided with Russian data for a total area of more than 85 thousand square kilometers. In the pilot project, we also processed the obtained foreign data to assess the state of forest ecosystems in the western part of the Altai-Sayan region. In the process of interaction between authorized organizations, the mechanism for exchanging DZZ data between the space agencies of the BRICS countries was being debugged, "said Sergei Ivanov, head of the operational monitoring and analysis of DZZ data at the RCS OMZ NC, coordinator of work from the Russian side. |
Representatives of foreign space agencies praised the results provided by Roscosmos. The joint application use of the DBZ data of a single BRICS satellite constellation is recognized as effective and promising.
2021: Demonstration of the operation of the ground-based spacecraft control complex "Canopus"
On July 22, 2021, the Russian Space Systems Holding (RKS) announced a demonstration of the work of the ground-based control complex (NKU) with the Canopus series remote sensing spacecraft (DZZ) to combat natural disasters and natural disasters. The entire process is reflected on the interactive digital map online. In particular, the process of controlling an orbiting satellite and conducting satellite surveys anywhere in Russia was demonstrated.
On a digital model, you can select a survey object and send the command to Mission Control (TSUP Control). The team will be formed into a special program and directed to the ground control center closest to the subject. The ground point in the visibility zone will transmit the command to one of the satellites of the digital model of the Canopus series. The spacecraft will begin the task. As a result, the digital model displays the subject on the booth screen.
The Canopus-V LVSD performs the functions of reliable control of a group of five Canopus-V spacecraft to ensure the fulfillment of target tasks. In addition to the ground-based satellite control complex of the Kanopus series, the RKS holding has developed radio links for transmitting target information and a multichannel radiometer of the middle and far infrared ranges (MSU-IK-SRM), which allows you to explore a 2,000 km wide strip and recognize fires with an area of 5×5 meters, "said Svetlana Zhidkova, head of the department for creating a MCC and a civilian NKU of the RKS. |
Spacecraft of the Canopus series provide shooting of the Earth's surface in the visible range of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum, generating the received video information into personnel, storing and transmitting the received data over radio channels to a ground-based complex for planning the reception, registration, processing and distribution of information.
Information collected from Canopus satellites is transmitted in real scale to consumers of remote sensing data, primarily by the state - EMERCOM of Russia, as well as Roshydromet, other federal and regional government bodies.
2019: Announcement of plans for a satellite surveillance constellation
On October 21, 2019, it became known about the plans of Roscosmos to invest 8.68 billion rubles in the creation of a satellite monitoring group, which is intended for operational monitoring of emergencies on its territory. It will provide wide-range and infrared photography of the territory of Russia.
According to RIA Novosti, citing materials on the public procurement website, the state corporation allocates funds for the development work "Creation of a space complex for viewing the territory of the Russian Federation and a space system based on it" ("Canopus-VO") within the framework of the Federal Space Program until 2025.
The system will be used for monitoring technogenic and natural emergencies, including natural hydrometeorological phenomena, large emissions of pollutants into nature, monitoring agricultural activities, natural resources and land use.
By October 2019, the Kanopus-V group is operating in orbit, which also consists of vehicles: five Kanopus-V and one Kanopus-V-IK. The latter is able to detect fires on Earth with an area of 5 by 5 square meters. m - however, these satellites are considered outdated.
Leonid Makridenko, General Director of VNIIEM Corporation (Roscosmos enterprise), says that with the help of a new satellite constellation, the picture of the fire hazard situation will be completely updated every hour and a half.
Earlier, Valery Zaichko, Deputy Director of the Department of Navigation Space Systems of Roscosmos, says that the Canopus-VO system, which will provide wide-range and infrared shooting in Russia, will include at least six satellites, the first of which will be launched in 2024-2025.[1]
