2019: Announcement

In May, 2019 the French fashion house Louis Vuitton provided a ladies' handbag with the built-in flexible display. The presentation took place on an action of Cruise 2020 in New York.

The bag belongs to a product line of Canvas of the Future which is developed by Louis Vuitton to show how technologies can be integrated with usual things. The creative director of Louis Vuitton Nicolas Ghesquière became the author of innovation.

The screen sewed in a handbag is executed on AMOLED technology (an active matrix on the basis of organic LEDs) and has enough high resolution capability — 1920 x 1440 pixels (diagonal is not specified). On it different photos and videos can be displayed. During the action from screens on handbags views of New York and also directories of clothes were displayed.

At the same time it is not clear whether it is possible to broadcast on such displays of the image from the smartphone or will be available to users only in advance loaded cyclically repeating content. It is known, the flexible display for Louis Vuitton was developed by Royole company which formally is considered the developer of the first-ever bent smartphone. This device is called FlexPai.

Provided to Louis Vuitton bags with flexible displays

On demonstration of Louis Vuitton two products Canvas of the Future — with the uniform and two-section flexible display were provided to the USA. Louis Vuitton did not disclose details about hi-tech bags. Neither terms of the beginning of sales, nor the product price are called. Very few people doubt that the product will be expensive and to cost several thousands of U.S. dollars. For example, the luxury brand has wireless earphones, and they are estimated almost at one thousand dollars.[1]

Attempts to build in displays bags earlier were already made. So, at the beginning of 2017 the American company POP-I provided a backpack with the E Ink display which is used in e-books.
