2025: Completion
In Russia, the construction of a commercial crab vessel "Captain" of the CCa5712LS project, designed for the extraction and transportation of crab in live form, has been completed. The new vessel has received a full set of classification documents and is ready for operation in unlimited areas of the oceans. The completion ceremony took place on August 20, 2025.
According to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, the crab was commissioned by Antey Sever and is intended for crab fishing using a trap method of extraction. The vessel is equipped with special bulk tanks with sea water to keep the catch alive during transportation to processing sites.
The construction of the commercial vessel was carried out at the production facilities of the Nakhodka shipyard in the Primorsky Territory. The company has extensive experience in creating fishing vessels of various projects and actively cooperates with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping as part of technical supervision of construction.
The technical characteristics of the Captain crab truck ensure high efficiency of field operations. The length of the vessel is 57.66 meters with a width of 12.6 meters and a side height of 7.5 meters to the main deck. The maximum draft reaches 5 meters, which allows the vessel to operate in various waters.
The carrying capacity of the new crab is 1238 tons of deadweight, which makes it possible to transport significant volumes of mined crab. The 1,620 kW power plant allows the vessel to reach speeds of up to 12.6 knots, providing prompt delivery of the catch to onshore processing facilities.
The crab ship received the KM Ice2 class symbol for hull and mechanisms, as well as the AUT3 category for refrigerated systems. Ice category Ice2 allows the vessel to operate under thin ice conditions, which expands the geography of possible commercial operations in northern latitudes.[1]
